Vast Belts Around Earth Accelerate Particles Close to Light Speed, And Now We Know How
7 FEBRUARY 2021
When you look up at the sky, the region of space around Earth may look as clear as a song, but there s a heck of a lot going on out there that we can t see. In recent years, probes studying radiation trapped by Earth s magnetic field have found something peculiar – electrons zipping along at close to light speed.
That alone isn t the peculiar part; near-light-speed, or relativistic, electrons are well known in the cosmos, boosted by cosmic particle accelerators. The peculiar thing was that occasionally extra fast,
Togo eyes 200MW of clean energy output by 2030 Energy Friday, 05 February 2021 00:18
(Togo First) - From 3MW now, Togo seeks to boost its clean energy production to 200MW by 2030.
This should enable the country to achieve its goal of getting half of its energy mix from renewable sources. And while many solar power projects are underway in this framework, solar energy is not the only resource Togo relies on to achieve its objective. According to public authorities, hydropower is also an option.
Under the national electrification strategy, Lomé also plans to combine new solutions (mini and off-grid systems) with the traditional grid.
Five commercial offtakers for $33m Jordanian solar portfolio
Telecomms, retail and garment manufacturing businesses have signed up to consume the electricity to be generated by eight solar projects in Jordan which will harness grid infrastructure to transfer an estimated 81 GWh of clean power annually.Dubai-based renewables company Yellow Door Energy has secured up to US$33 million of publicly-funded finance to establish eight solar projects in Jordan. The solar plants, which will have a total generation capacity of 48.3 MWp, will supply power to five commercial offtakers in a project Yellow Door yesterday described as the biggest private-to-private renewables .
